I chose to become a teacher due to the lack of relatable role models during my upbringing, particularly those who resembled me or understood my challenges. As a Latino immigrant, my goal is to represent the predominant student demographic in my community and promote a vibrant culture that embraces inclusivity for everyone. In my current role, I have the opportunity to inspire students while contributing to the nation I cherish by sharing my enthusiasm for music education.

In 2023, my program experienced significant growth, expanding from 80 students to nearly 400 in three years. It was particularly rewarding to host a major Latino event in my community that resulted in my school receiving a proclamation from the City of Las Vegas. Additionally, this achievement allowed me to be recognized as a 40 Under 40 educator by Yamaha. This expansion has also contributed to numerous national successes, highlighting the transformative impact of music on students' lives.

I am committed to supporting my program to ensure that my students maintain their exemplary representation of Nevada. Since the pandemic, fundraising opportunities have diminished, making it increasingly difficult each year to raise 25K for competition/conference travel and provide students with valuable life experiences.
