I have been a music teacher for 32 years. I have always loved bringing music into the lives of others and helping students grow as musicians
Thank you for supporting Michelle Ribelin in this year's competition. Your donations and participation will benefit The Planetary Society in their mission to advance space exploration, inspire discovery, and empower the next generation of innovators.
I became a music educator because I loved music as a young person and I loved helping my friends with their music. I knew in 7th grade that I was going to become a teacher. It was the only job I ever wanted.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceI think the most memorable teaching experience I have is when I got to teach my own children in band. Most teachers don't get to teach their own children. Both of my children have made Regional Honor Band and Choir multiple times and have had solos marching band experiences with me. It has been so special watching them become wonderful musicians. I also remember the first time I wrote the drill for our marching show for the first time and we placed high in competition that year.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would take my students on a memorable trip to watch a performance and I'd probably take some time with my family and go on a trip with them.
