I love when the light in their eyes tells me they got it. I love when they are learning unbeknownst to them. I love that they teach me.

Learn MoreI almost didn’t become a teacher even though I always wanted to. My Husband was in a motorcycle accident and lost his leg. We became a team with goals that did not include my teaching certificate. Once we met our team goal, it was my turn. We are both teachers now. I am the most grateful teacher. Our school district is low income and my students have disabilities. I can tell them without a doubt that they can do it! They just need to reach their dreams a different way!
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceI had a student in the first grade with speech and learning difficulties during COVID. We had just returned to in person with masks. My student could not count to 20. We marched around the school with me counting and my student parroting me. Each time we got to “13” I would pull my mask and show her my mouth as I said this tricky word for her. It took multiple months but she got it. When she realized what she had accomplished she exclaimed “My brain is growing!” The pride I saw in her eyes!!!!
What would you do with the $25,000?I would love to complete my Masters, have some fun, and help my students with their goal to get a playground!!!!
