Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because of my passion for learning and the countless opportunities for growth that it provides. Teaching mandates constant adaptation and the search for new techniques to engage and empower students. This fuels my desire to continually improve and evolve as an educator. Beyond the lessons, I view teaching as a way to prepare the next generation for their lives, and opportunities ahead of them. This role also extends the beyond the classroom, to include mentoring and coaching.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

The beauty of being a teacher is that all experiences are memorable. I have had the responsibility of being the only positive male role model in a students life. I have provided a meal for students that would have otherwise gone hungry. I have been blessed with the opportunity to help students make major decisions about college and future employment. Additionally, I have been there countless times when a student has experienced their 'eureka' moment. There is something memorable every day.

What would you do with the $25,000?

Some of the funds would be used to continue to provide for my students needs, but the majority of the money would go to my son for college.
