Tell us why you became a teacher

Plain and simple, I want to help students find their path in life. From the time I can remember, I always wanted to opportunity to give back to my community by teaching, mentoring, and/or teaching. I’m lucky enough to have the privilege of being all 3. I teach special education social studies. I coach girls basketball and softball, and unified track and field. As a mentor, I am constantly put in a position where I can help a student in all aspects of life.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

In my 5 years of teaching, I’ve had many memorable experiences but nothing will top the experience of going to the State finals in Unified track and field for the past 3 seasons. What would you do with the $25,000?

I’m currently planning to buy a house in the near future. With the economy the way it is, $25,000 would be a huge help in purchasing my first home. Aside from that, I would love to surprise my track and field team with matching warm-ups and sneakers. Nothing satisfies me more than giving to others. Any chance I get, I give back to my students in one way or another. I can already see the look on their faces!
