Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because it’s in my blood; my mom has been a teacher for over 30 years, and I grew up seeing the impact she made. Teaching comes naturally to me because I love children and want to be a positive influence in their lives, just like the teachers who shaped me. It gives me a sense of purpose, knowing I can leave a lasting impact. I want my students to feel seen, valued, and capable, no matter what.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience was during my senior year of college when I had the opportunity to student teach at my old elementary school—where it all started for me. It was a full-circle moment, made even more special by the fact that many of my former teachers were still there. Seeing them, now as a fellow educator, was a beautiful and emotional experience. It reminded me why I chose this path and how impactful teachers can be in shaping lives.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I were awarded $25,000, I’d put some of the money into my classroom to enhance learning experiences and create more opportunities for my students. I’d also use part of it to pay off my student loans, allowing me to focus fully on my students without financial stress. This would help me be the best teacher I can be, giving my all to the kids who need it most.
