Tell us why you became a teacher

To be honest, I was running from teaching because I knew the pay wasn't what I wanted but one day I subbed for a teacher on maternity leave in a special needs class and I saw the difference being made in those students lives and it turned from being about the money to being about the lives being touched.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I have two: while teaching US History there was one young lady that didn't seem to be getting the review for the exam but ended up making a B, the highest score in the class. A middle school parent came to me during open house and told me about a student taking the initiative to do laundry and they asked him where he learned that and he said, Mrs. Sutton. Those and many others keep me going.

What would you do with the $25,000?

After paying my tithes to the church, I would setup a teacher account for teachers that have ideas to enrich the students lives but no funds to get it started. Also create a functional summer camp for students with disabilities to enhance job skills. Futhermore to aid young people the opportunity to experience the world of track and field.
