Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher to help students get to those "aha moments"... Make the connections they didn't think they could... Push them beyond the limits they think are possible until they realize they are capable of so much more. Teaching is not always something you get recognized for in the moment, but it is beyond worthwhile when a former student reaches out just to tell you what they're doing, how much they appreciated you, and how much they know what you did for them was ultimately worthwhile.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I would have to say my entire 2017-2018 School Year was my most memorable experience. I've had about 1000 students over my 25 years of teaching, but every day of that year, every student of that class, every connection made was so worth it. I am still in touch with most of them, and they truly touched my heart. That was also the first year I really, honestly felt like I was finally making that difference I'd always aspired to have.

What would you do with the $25,000?

Goodness! First off, I'd have a discussion with my Principal to see what the major needs of our school would be at this present moment. I'd love to leave my mark on the place I went to High School and now teach. I'd also love to put it towards some extra adventures, since I love to travel.
