I have always loved teaching. It is such an amazing feeling to help students se the value in upper level mathematics and feel accomplished.

I first became a teacher after I was medically retired from the Army. I thought sharing my foreign language knowledge would be fun. I later moved into elementary education where I found my love of mathematics and have now gone on to teach high school and dual credit math. I love the light bulb moments and the excitement students experience when they learn something new. I want to share my love of numbers.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceOne of the best experiences I have had in my teaching is creating a class quilt every year with my geometry students. We also enter it into the State fair, which is the best part. I love seeing the kids go check out how we placed and being so proud to see their work is on display. I continue to do this project because it not only brings me great joy but my students as well.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would use the $25,000 to help enhance my math classroom, getting supplies to help implement some more real world projects. I am also working towards my Ph.D so I would pay tuition.
