Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher, like so many others, because I had many wonderful teachers. I grew up in the Beverly Public School system and truly don’t know where I would be today without teachers like Mrs. Maver, Mrs. Pilanen-Kudlik, Mrs. Taylor, and so many more!

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience was during 2020 when Covid took place. While this time hit everyone in unexpected and difficult ways it was a test of how tightly woven our community at Salem Public Schools was. Going into school, doing hybrid schooling, masking up, weekly testing - all of it was constantly changing. The children and adults were scared, but we all worked together and found ways to support one another. This was when my coworkers became my family.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I were lucky enough to win the $25,000, I would use it in order to celebrate my students and staff at the end of this school year. I would also use the remaining money to celebrate with my family!
