The summers off :) AND to honestly make a difference in the lives of kiddos who do face daily struggles in their lives after they leave this building. I chose to teach special education in a Gary middle school. With every smile, my students know that I care the world about them.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceI collected Christmas gifts for a student in need. I collected gifts for her siblings, also, My family shopped, wrapped, and delivered these gifts on Christmas Eve. A few months later, my 4th grade daughter won a Mother's Day essay contest writing about her experience with our "Paying it Forward". This memory stuck with my daughter, as she is now in college and studying to become a teacher.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would give back to my students by having a store with items that are needed for them to reach success. I currently have boxes of clothes in my classroom from my daughters that I allow my students to go through and take home. How nice would it be to actually have racks, hangers, shelves..... I do believe that my family and I deserve to get on a plane and vacation somewhere warm.
