I love helping below grade level math students make large gains in knowledge during our time together and believe in themselves again!

I became a math teacher to help students who are struggling in math or with math anxiety learn how to believe in themselves. I truly believe that all people are math people, if they are taught in ways they understand. All high school students need math credits to graduate, so helping some of the struggling students get through their freshmen year Algebra course is very important! One of my most favorite things as a teacher is HEARING the "light bulb" of understanding from students.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceMy most memorable teaching experiences was when I had a student repeat her Algebra class with me for a second time. Upon the realization that work needed to be completed in order to pass, this student became a great advocate not only for herself, but an advocate of growth mindset and hard work in the classroom. Needless to say, the second time around she earned an A in my class. She would come back to me for math help even when I was not her main math teacher anymore.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would use some of the money to pay off student loans and the other part to take my young family to Disney. We love Disney, but have not been fortunate to go. I would love to be able to take my 6 year old daughter and 2.5 year old son to experience the magic!
