Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I find it rewarding to watch students’ confidence build as they tackle challenging concepts and improve over time. Every breakthrough, no matter how small, is a victory. I want to be part of their journey and help them develop a strong foundation in math, equipping them with the problem solving skills they need for future success both in academics and life.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I worked with an English Language Learner in grade 7 who was testing at a kindergarten level. Over several weeks of small group instruction, their progress was incredible. They went from struggling with basic concepts to testing at a grade 4 level and connecting with some grade 7 level material. It was an inspiring journey to witness their growth and confidence, proving that with the right support, every student can succeed beyond expectations.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I have been working extremely hard at paying my student loans these past several years, so I would take $15,000 to pay the rest off and be debt free. With the remaining $10,000 I would invest in myself with either workshops, conferences, or classes to obtain certifications to improve my teaching skills. Any leftover funds would go towards interactive tools for my classroom.
