Tell us why you became a teacher

I’m a third-generation educator, following the legacy of the women before me. I became a teacher to make a positive impact on the future, just as they did. Teaching allows me to inspire and guide the next generation, continuing a tradition of education and influence.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching experiences was with a student who arrived speaking no English. For a many months, we relied on visuals and gestures to communicate, facing daily challenges. Despite the struggles, he worked hard, absorbing everything around him. Then, one day, he looked at me and said in a full sentence, “My name is __ and this is how you say it.” That moment was unforgettable— it showed me the power of patience, and persistence!

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I had $25,000, I would invest it wisely to secure my future. I’d either put it into retirement savings to build long-term financial stability or use it to further my education by pursuing a master’s degree in school counseling or educational leadership. Both options would help me grow professionally and make a greater impact in education. Investing in my future—whether financially or academically—would allow me to continue making a difference while securing my own stability.
