Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I truly believe that there are so many children that are looked over because of where they come from or how they look. I was one of those kids. I had undiagnosed ADHD and I came from a less than perfect household. I wish teachers would have noticed me and given me a little extra attention so my past trauma has driven me to a profession where I can do just that. I have an opportunity to make underprivileged kids feel special and let them know how amazing they are.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience would have to be The time when one of my students asked me if I had any kids one day because they said I was just like a mom. Without missing a beat another student turned to him and said of course she has kids. She said we're all her kids. And that's when I truly felt that despite the stress and pressure of teaching, I loved being an educator.

What would you do with the $25,000?

Obviously as a teacher for the $25,000 a good portion of it would go towards my classroom of course... The other portion would go to me getting IVF treatments. As someone who's had over five miscarriages teaching has given me the joy and opportunity to be a school mom to wonderful children time and again. Though I love my students and already feel very blessed to call them my kids, I would love an opportunity to try for a child of my own.
