Tell us why you became a teacher

For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to be a teacher. I absolutely love teaching young minds and seeing them find the joy in learning just as much as I did when I was a student. My students are amazing and they continue to inspire me to learn and grow with them everyday. Teaching is my everything and it brings me so much joy that I get to do what I love for the rest of my life. I honestly could not imagine doing anything else in the world other than teaching.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

If I had to choose one, it would be when a student I had during my second year of teaching finally found the spark and joy for learning after being given up on by so many other teachers. This student came from a rough home life and had many struggles in and out of school. I worked with this child every day and made sure to build a positive relationship with them. All this student needed was for someone to show them they cared. They worked so hard for me that year and I will never forget it.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I won’t $25,000 I would use it to help make myself financially stable by paying off some of my student loans. I would also use some of the money to buy things for my classroom that I have been dreaming of getting, but could not due to financial reasons. I would also love to travel and see the world. It has always been a dream of mine to be able to travel to historical sites and learn more about them.
