I love teaching autistic students because I help lay the foundation for a more inclusive community in communication, play, and learning.

Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I firmly believe that autistic people are valuable members of society. I am passionate about fighting the fear and negativity often surrounding autism by educating the entire community. By fostering understanding and empathy, we can create a more inclusive environment where everyone, regardless of neurodiversity, can thrive and contribute meaningfully. Education is the key to breaking down barriers and promoting acceptance.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

During COVID, I worked closely with my student's mom to set boundaries at home. It was challenging for her, and she was feeling drained. I reassured her that it would only be tough for a month. In just two weeks, her daughter spontaneously said, "I love you" for the first time. This breakthrough moment was a testament to the hard work and patience they both invested, and it marked a beautiful shift in their relationship.

What would you do with the $25,000?

With $25k, I would invest in my son’s education fund to help secure his future. Education is one of the best investments, and I want to ensure he has the resources he needs to pursue his dreams, whether that’s for college, specialized training, or other opportunities down the line. This investment would give him a strong foundation and provide more options for his future.
