Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher to build deep and meaningful relationships with students and their families. As a mother of two boys with severe autism, I have a personal connection to the importance of supporting each child's unique journey. Witnessing students make progress and achieve their goals fills my heart with joy. My passion for teaching deepens as I advocate for students. Each victory achievement celebrated for studen gives me a profound sense of purpose and reinforces my commitment as a teacher.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching moments occurred while working with a child who did not speak throughout the entire school year. Toward the end of the year, he surprised everyone by singing the alphabet. It felt as if a light switch had been turned on, illuminating his progress. Witnessing this student blossom and his excitement to learn brought me immense joy. This experience reinforced my belief that every child learns differently and at their own pace.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would pay off my student loan, take a family vacation, and then buy more sensory items for my classroom.
