Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I was encouraged by my Family and Consumer Sciences teacher. She inspired and I looked up to her. It is cliche to say I became a teacher because I wanted to make a difference in student's lives. But, as a Family and Consumer Sciences teacher not only am I making a difference in my students lives, but their family lives and their future families. I am helping them develop life skills that will impact individuals, families as well as communities.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience was when a former student came to me and said that because of the experiences he had in my classes he wanted to become a Family and Consumer Sciences teacher like me. He is now teaching in a neighboring school district.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I would win, I would use the money to pay bills, make a donation to our school's Dollar for Scholars scholarship fund and take a vacation with my family.
