I became a teacher because of my own struggles as a student with a learning disability. I often felt overlooked and unsupported. I wanted to be the kind of teacher I needed back then. Working at a Title I school, I see students facing unimaginable hardships, yet they show resilience and hope. My mission is to provide a safe, nurturing environment where they feel seen, heard, and valued. Teaching is more than a job; it's my calling to make a difference in their lives.

One of my most memorable teaching experiences happened when I was teaching fourth grade. There was a group of eighth graders who didn't have a consistent teacher; they were going through a series of substitutes and were really stressed about picking high schools. To help them out, I decided to hold a clinic where they could come to campus and meet with me. We spent time personally choosing high schools that would benefit them and where they would feel comfortable.

If I won the prize money, I'd make sure every student has all the materials they need for school and their homes. I would also support those at my school who lack daily living essentials. This isn't just about supplies; it's about giving them the foundation to thrive and succeed.
