Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I grew up way too quickly without brothers and sisters, and I wanted to be there for children while they were still young, guiding them through those crucial early years. That’s why I started in elementary school—it was my passion to help children find their way in the world through my teaching. I wanted to create a safe, nurturing space where students felt seen, heard, and encouraged to believe in themselves.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of the most profound experiences of my teaching career was taking in a former student when her family could no longer provide for her. Beyond being her teacher, I became her guardian, offering not just a place to stay but also the love, guidance, and stability she needed to build a future. It was an unexpected role, but when I saw a child in need, I knew I had to step up.During our time together, I supported her academically, emotionally, and personally, helping her realize her potential.

What would you do with the $25,000?

With $25,000, I would definitely treat myself to a much-needed vacation—somewhere relaxing where I can unwind, recharge, and enjoy the beauty of life outside the classroom. Teaching is my passion, but it’s also exhausting, and a getaway would be the perfect way to refresh my spirit. I would also put money toward remodeling my home, creating a more comfortable and inviting space that truly reflects the warmth and love I pour into everything I do.
