Tell us why you became a teacher

I originally spent several years attempting to make a career as a NASCAR driver. Ultimately, I "crashed and burned", so I decided to switch to education... Just kidding! As much as I'd love to have an amazing story to tell you why I choose education, it's actually pretty boring. Truth is, I thought for sure that I was going to be an accountant until I volunteered at a basketball camp after my freshman year of college. I LOVED working with young people, so I changed my major to education.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

It is always fun when the students bring in their favorite circular treats to share for π Day. Julia made the BEST Strawberry Rhubarb pie EVER! The memories of bringing in griddles so my students could make pancakes to measure circumference and area are also at the top of the list, but my all-time favorite memory has to be when all my students in one class showed up wearing t-shirts that said, "Right Angles are Never Cold, They are Always 90°" I smile just thinking about that group!

What would you do with the $25,000?

Easy one...A Family Vacation!!! I have 4 kids (2 college daughters - both education majors, an 8th-grade son, and a 7th-grade daughter). I've always had the mindset that it is better to spend my money on experiences rather than material things. My older daughters will soon have their own careers and families, so having this extra money for a Stamm Family Adventure would be unbelievable! I don't have a specific spot in mind, but it would definitely involve mountains, waterfalls, and hiking!
