Between 2014 to 2016, I began my journey working with children. In 2016, the children I worked with were refugees from Afghanistan. I began to teach them English and I loved seeing them grow! I knew that teaching was for me. I wanted to help shape children's minds and give them a space to help them grow, learn and enjoy being in school! I currently teach the 4th grade, and I LOVE teaching my students. My "WHY" in teaching is that I want to teach the change I wish to see in our world.

My most memorable teaching experience happened during my 1st year teaching. I had a student who was fairly new to the country from Mexico. He was extremely unmotivated with reading & writing. I had to teach myself how to motivate this student and build a love of reading and writing within him. With a lot of hard work I still remember the day he finally was able to write his first paragraph. Celebrating this accomplishment was a huge deal, and I was so proud to be part of his learning journey!

If I won $25,000... I would use the money to help my husband go back to school and to begin IVF treatments. I have PCOS, and so my fertility is not where I would like for it to be. I always tell my students that THEY are my kids for now! For my husband, he helped me financially, emotionally, & mentally as I got through the credential program while we were dating, and I would like to return the favor. I also would like to use the money towards my future downpayment of my first home!
