Tell us why you became a teacher

I went back to school to transition from banking to education once I had my daughter and saw the need for qualified and dedicated educators in our school systems. I wanted to be part of a positive change for children, especially those who lack that support and guidance in their home life.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable experiences in teaching was the first time a former student of mine showed up at my classroom door years later to thank me for helping and guiding him so that he could be who he was meant to be.

What would you do with the $25,000?

The first thing I would do would be to purchase multiple virtual reality headsets to use as a hands on source of education for students in the science field. My hope would be that this would help them become more engaged and that they would actively learn in ways that they didn’t know were possible. Afterwards, I would use the remaining money to pay down my student loan debt which I accrued while completing my masters degree in curriculum and instruction.
