Being a teacher is the hardest but most rewarding job. I love creating strong relationships with students so they feel safe to keep trying!

Tell us why you became a teacher

I have always wanted to be a teacher. I struggled a lot in school and wanted to be there to help kids. I am able to tell them stories of success for working hard and find different ways to explain topics. I try my best to help make kids feel valued at school and school a positive place.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience was teaching English as a Second Language for new comers students in upper elementary school and middle school. There was one student in particular that had moved from Guatemala and didn't like speaking or reading in English because he was embarrassed. I worked a lot with this student and when they started practicing more and trusting me more, they also began talking more with classmates. It was so nice to see them smiling at lunch, engaged in conversations.

What would you do with the $25,000?

With the 25,000, I would love to pay off part of my students loans or my house!
