Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I have a passion for helping others discover their potential. Education has the power to shape lives and create opportunities, and I wanted to be a part of that process. Witnessing the growth and development of students, both academically and personally, is incredibly rewarding. Being able to inspire curiosity, encourage critical thinking, and support young minds as they navigate their journey motivates me every day.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience was when a very timid student confided in me. She told me that she had never been good at math until the year I was her teacher. She said she loved my class because I taught math in a way she could finally understand. She appreciated my patience and how I always made her feel capable. Her confidence in math grew, and it showed. I carry this moment with me, especially on tough days, reminding me that my belief in my students shapes their belief in themselves.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I had $25,000, I would use it to take my students to Germany. I know it sounds crazy, but I run a global cultures club at a school with economically disadvantaged students, and these 7 dedicated students have worked hard to fundraise for this trip. This money would cover their full costs, acting as a scholarship for each student. Many of these students have never left the city, and this trip would provide a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to expand their horizons.
