My journey to teaching science began with a college assignment - leading a physics lab in a 5th grade classroom. Armed with toy cars and stopwatches, I walked in terrified. Would they listen? Would they care? Despite my racing heart, I projected confidence, and something magical happened: not only did the students listen, they were genuinely excited to learn! That moment of connection and discovery hooked me forever.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

During an AP chemistry lab, what started as a frustrating moment turned into pure magic. Our gas law experiment wasn't working - we could see bubbles forming, but nothing was displacing the water. Then inspiration struck: together, my students and I thought to adjust the graduated cylinder's height. Suddenly, whoosh! The test tube filled with gas, and our collective cheer of triumph echoed through the lab. That spontaneous moment of collaborative problem-solving reminded me why I love teaching.
