Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because my passion is to make the next generation better than the present ones. I want to ensure all children have a fair and equal opportunity when it comes to their education. I believe that students deserve a diverse, loving and accepting classroom environment.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of the most memorable teaching experiences was teaching a child who had severe seizures and deficits. Giving her the space to come to school for the first time and provide an education for her no matter her needs was beautiful to be a part of. This student now has no seizures and is thriving. Being able to teach students from all walks of life and accommodating to their needs is not only a privilege but a joy.

What would you do with the $25,000?

First, I would pay off my student loans. I have 3 educational degrees. Next, I would invest in new rugs for my classroom. Next, I would invest in some decodable books from HMH for my students. I would then use part of the money to go back to school to get my doctorate in Curriculum and Leadership. I would also use it to buy more supplies and books for each student in my classroom. I would be honored to receive this.
