Tell us why you became a teacher

I love children. I love learning! I realized early in life that through teaching others things that I have learned, I learn more! It is a hunger that to this day, has not ceased. I love instilling that same hunger in my students.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

There was a second grader that comes to mind. Teachers and administration would shake their heads when his name was mentioned. He truly had emotional issues that manifested in violence quite often. He was transferred to my classroom because the other teacher could not handle him. He was hard at first, but I I started inviting him to have lunch with me in the classroom. We formed a bond. He slowly but surely became a model student. We keep in touch to this day. He is married with children now!

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would pay of my debts, to be honest. I am getting ready to retire. I have spent so much money in my classrooms. I really don't need anything for my classroom, but I need to pay off bills, including my student loans, so that I can retire. :)
