Tell us why you became a teacher

Passion to impart my knowledge on others while never stopping the learning process myself. Watching the children learn and grow academically, socially, and emotionally and knowing that I play an integral part in this brings me the ultimate joy and professional and personal satisfaction.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

This is probably the hardest question because every day there's something new, challenging, or exciting happening in the classroom. I also believe that all children are good in their hearts. Upon joining my current school I met a student who was considered “difficult”. It took me a few months to build the trusting relationship with this student. Understanding what makes him tick, showing respect as well as expecting the same in return and acknowledging his academic strengths led to him thriving.

What would you do with the $25,000?

My students come first and I’d like to invest in hands-on science activities and technology. I also strongly believe that I need to take care of myself to be my best in the classroom. One of my strengths is story telling. I love sharing personal experiences with my students. My other passion is traveling. I’d love to visit a new place in the world and bring my first hand accounts into the classroom.
