Tell us why you became a teacher

Becoming a certified teacher was a calling for me. I became a teacher because I wanted to make a difference in the lives of children, especially those who need encouragement and support the most. Teaching gives me the chance to inspire, uplift, and guide students toward discovering their own strengths and potential. Every child deserves someone who believes in them, and I am passionate about being that person.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

The moment when a student who has struggled finally realizes their own potential. Working with a foster or adopted child who arrived in my classroom feeling discouraged and unsure of themselves. Day by day, with patience, encouragement, and consistent support, they begin to open up and believe in their abilities. Then comes that breakthrough moment whether it’s mastering a difficult math concept or another subject, the smile on their face, the spark of confidence in their eyes, that’s priceless.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would organize programs, such as mentorship opportunities, life skills workshops, and field trips, to broaden their horizons and give them experiences they might not otherwise have. Also a portion of the funds would go toward creating a safe and welcoming classroom environment where every child feels seen, heard, and inspired. This opportunity would allow to continue my mission of being a consistent, positive influence in their lives, showing that they are capable of achieving their dreams.
