Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because teachers in my life made the greatest impact on me. It was the teachers that made real life experiences connect to learning in the classroom. It was the teachers that saw every student as an individual that made me want to learn. It was the teacher that believed I was an asset in their classroom that motivated me. Now, I teach teachers and that is a huge reward after teaching kids for 19 years . Teaching teachers gives me the opportunity take part in growing many kids.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching moments was teaching Maleah- she was retained and didn’t care much about school. I found how to engage her, give her love and experience to support her desires. That was a long time ago and she is in college now and excelling at her dreams.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would buy some Devices for classrooms at my school, I’d pay down some student loans , pay my daughters tuition to a college and take a little vacation
