My dad was a teacher for over 30 years. Growing up I would visit his classroom and I got the “teaching bug.” I saw how impactful a good teacher can be for students and I wanted to be that person for the next generation.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceOne of my former fifth graders nominated me for teacher of the year when she was a freshman in high school. She wrote me a beautiful letter and still keeps in touch via email. I have many other students who reach out after they leave me about things going on with them. They’ve asked me to attend sporting events, concerts, etc. I feel so honored to share in the special moments in their lives.
What would you do with the $25,000?The school I work at is the same school I attended. I would like to set up a scholarship in my school district ($1,000 per year) to go to a student who wants to pursue a teaching career. The teacher shortage in my rural area is a very real issue and I’d like to encourage former students to become teachers!
