I became a teacher to empower students with problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills that prepare them for life beyond the classroom. I believe in fostering curiosity, building meaningful connections, and creating inclusive learning environments where all students feel valued and capable. Teaching allows me to inspire future leaders, encourage innovation, and make a lasting impact on my students and community.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceWas when I secured a $500,000 education grant for my school. It funded microscopes for a forensic science lab, robotics equipment to start a robotics club, a CNC machine, a 20-needle embroidery machine, a wide-format printer, and a white toner printer, which helped me launch, with my students, a new student-run business for custom apparel, accessories, giving students hands-on experience in problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would invest in additional technology including a direct-to-film (DTF) printer for custom apparel, a classroom color printer for students to create marketing tools to help grow the businesses and I would add to a fund started for student scholarships, competition travel, and professional development.
