Kids are our best gift. They teach us as well. Seeing their expressions when they learn a new concept is priceless.

Tell us why you became a teacher

I come from a family off educators. My great great grandfather was a Superintendent, my grandmother taught over 40 years, and my mother was a teacher. Education can move mountains, and learning can change lives. I love children of all ages and want to push them to new heights.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

As a School Counselor I work with children who are going through so much. Trauma is too prevalent and helping my students navigate through the pain is difficult. I would say seeing students make good grades and seeing them move from having poor grades is heartwarming.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would probably give a lot of it to help my students and their families. That's what educators do! We use our money to help our students. I would also travel. I never had money to go overseas and this would enable that want.
