I became a math teacher because I believe math is more than just numbers—it's a language that helps us understand and shape the world. I want to inspire students to see the beauty in problem-solving, to build their confidence, and to know that math isn’t just about right or wrong answers, but about persistence, creativity, and discovery. Watching students make connections and realize their potential is what drives my passion for teaching every day.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

The most memorable teaching experience was when a student, initially struggling with algebra, had a breakthrough moment after weeks of effort. Seeing the confusion turn into clarity as they solved a complex problem on their own was unforgettable. The smile of accomplishment on their face and the pride in their eyes reminded me why I teach. It’s those moments of growth—when students realize they’re capable—that make all the challenges worthwhile.

What would you do with the $25,000?

With $25,000, a teacher could enhance learning by updating classroom technology, buying hands-on materials for math and science, and funding field trips. Additionally, investing in professional development would support teacher growth, ensuring a lasting impact on both students and educators. These resources would create an engaging, real-world connection to learning, while fostering continuous improvement in the classroom for years to come.
