Tell us why you became a teacher

From a young age, I’ve always adored children. I became an older sister at age 7, which inspired me to help shape young minds. I realized teaching goes beyond academics—it’s about fostering curiosity, confidence, and emotional growth. I wanted to guide children as they navigate life, creating a safe and supportive environment where they can thrive. Becoming a teacher felt like a natural path to make a lasting impact on future generations, just as my mentors did for me.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching moment was with a student who started the year behind. My co-teacher thought he had a learning disability, but I believed he just needed extra support. I spent extra time with him, and recently, his mom reached out to share that he’s now reading on his own. I felt so proud, as it reaffirmed my belief in always trusting my students and giving them the time and encouragement they need to succeed.

What would you do with the $25,000?

With the $25,000, I’d invest in classroom resources to support my students’ growth. I’d also use some toward buying a house for me and my boyfriend. He grew up in an apartment and has always dreamed of owning a home with a backyard. I want to make that dream a reality for him, creating a space where we can build our future while continuing to help my students thrive. It’s about balancing both my professional and personal aspirations.
