Everyone is an artist. But not everyone has an art teacher that helps them realize that. I luckily did, and it changed my life. Having art as an outlet to explore, create, and express myself helped me discover who I am. This led me into education. I remember the impact we can have on our students everyday, with every lesson.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceAs an art teacher that sees my students once a week, it can take longer to build rapport. I don’t remember all of my specialist teachers from elementary school, but I have very vivid memories of my classroom teachers. I always assumed my students wouldn’t remember me. I just completed a principal internship last year which brought me into the middle and high school buildings. I was surrounded by past students that not only remembered me but were thrilled to see me. I will never forget that.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would probably do a mix of practical and enjoyable spending. For instance: rebound from completing my second Masters degree/ put a down payment on a new roof, and book a trip to an Italy. I have tried to go twice and had to cancel. Third times a charm! Life is definitely for living, and I have spent a lot of time being practical and working hard. A trip to celebrate would be a great way to honor that!
