Connect Tell us why you became a teacher

I was in second grade when I realized that I wanted to be a teacher. My primary teachers were just amazing and inspiring. I wanted to do the same for the children in my community. They were my biggest inspiration. I am blessed that I get to have this opportunity and give back to my community.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience was teaching a tough 6th-grade class. I was the third teacher coming in to take this class. It was challenging at first, but I earned their respect by taking the time to get to know each of them. I connected with the students through their hobbies and sports, which helped build trust and mutual respect. It was an amazing experience at the beginning of my career, that helped shape me into the teacher that I am now.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I win I would use the $25,000 to pursue my master’s degree, something I've been unable to do until now due to financial constraints. This opportunity would allow me to further my education and grow both professionally and personally.
