Tell us why you became a teacher

I started babysitting kids in my neighborhood at the age of 13. I had younger siblings who I tutored growing up. I volunteered at VBS at a young age. I had wonderful teachers who were great role models and passionate about teaching. I wanted to be just like them when I grew up. I survived ovarian cancer in 2022 and know it’s because I have yet to fill my purpose of teaching. So I continued my life long journey. I’m enjoying each moment and challenge along the way.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

Working with a student with Down’s syndrome. Seeing the world through his perspective. The love, the joy, and the celebrations along the way.

What would you do with the $25,000?

It would help pay off my student loans. I’d also donate a portion to a couple of non profit organizations that help teach and minister to children around the world.
