Tell us why you became a teacher

I worked in the workforce for a few years before deciding to return to college to become a teacher. I saw the need for teachers and wanted to make an impact in lives and make learning fun!

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience is still happening. I have a student that has a very rough home life and comes to school 1/2 of the time. When he is in school, he wants to sleep all of the time and can be a handful. He receives disciplines on a regular basis from his teachers and I have had to do the same from time-to-time. Days like those make it hard to care and I rethink my career choice. Other days, this student comes to class and just melts my heart and tells me he loves me.

What would you do with the $25,000?

Winning $25,000 would mean so much to me and my kids. We lost our leader(my husband and their dad) a few years ago and being a single income is hard. After losing my husband, my kids and I have tried to make the most memories as possible, because what do we have after we leave this Earth? All we are left with are memories and pictures. I am constantly telling people to make the memories and stop making excuses.
