I became a teacher because I wanted to make a difference and give students that love and care that I received from teachers I had growing up. I also wanted to be a part of something important and what’s more important than education?
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceI had a student last year that I was able to mentor and I was able to hold the mirror up to themselves and show them how amazing, smart, talented, and valuable they were when all they thought was the opposite. I was able to give them an opportunity to win an award at our theatre competition and the look on their face when they saw that THEY won was priceless.
What would you do with the $25,000?Honestly, since we don’t get paid much as educators I would keep some for retirement BUT I would funnel a decent amount into public arts education funding since we need it so desperately in South Carolina.
