Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher to influence our future leaders because they have so much potential and enthusiasm to learn. These are the doctors, politicians, and engineers affecting our quality of life as we learn new technologies and increase our knowledge so much so that specialties have become the norm, so much more than when I was in college. The amount of information we’re gaining is amazing to think about and we need to pass our learning onto the next generations.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience was comforting a student whose parents were getting a divorce because I remember what an impact my 6th grade teacher had on me when my family got divorced. I told myself I want to be like Mrs. Crane and encourage and support all students, especially the most vulnerable because that influences their learning capabilities/focus/distractability factors, etc and I want them not to worry about it when we’re learning at school.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would like to explore the historical aspects of Hawaii including Pearl Harbor and of course relax. We would enjoy going on hikes and tours exploring the flora & fauna around the islands, including the ocean and volcanoes. It’d be nice to take time to cruise around the major islands observing and comparing the differences among them. If I could, I would try to take time to do some community service where the fires were. Thank you for this exciting opportunity.
