I can actually remember when I prophesied that I was going to become an educator. At 8 years old, I was able to explain to my father why I believed teaching was one of my life purposes. My response was "I want to teach to impact the world". My prophesy became an action plan, and my action plan became my reality. In 2012, I became a "certified world leader", making the commitment to dedicating my life to aid in the progression of our world, our youth and our futures.

One of my most memorable teaching experiences involved the establishment of a talented spoken word team. As a unit, we exercised the ability to transform our entire beings, into poetry, that could be shared publicly. Being able to witness how my students creatively use words and platform, to showcase how they view themselves and the world around them, left me in a proud space. This opportunity emphasized the importance of knowing there is value in your emotions, existence, and voices.

With the $25,000 winnings, I plan to invest in a piece of security for my family of five. I would undoubtedly place a down payment on a family home, that could provide a long-term safe haven for my husband, children and I. It's the only family wish that I we were unable to begin fulfilling.
