Tell us why you became a teacher

I volunteered at a Middle School and became hooked! Prior to teaching, I worked in healthcare and social work field and I found myself wanting to do more, when I have to opportunity to work with special needs students, it All made sense and I found my niche!

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

There are so many overt the last twenty years, but to pick one, who be that I had a student who was initially on my caseload at (9 yrs old). Her grandma and I developed a bond, so after leaving DCF, we stayed in touch through church and community events. My first year teaching, this young lady was my student in science class. She said that she aspired to go to into a science related career and with mentoring and encouragement, she accomplished just that. She is now a occupational therapist!

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would love to expand on my girls mentorship program and do something to young.,aspiring, and underprivileged students to learn about the vast opportunities available for farther their education and careers!
