Teaching gives me the opportunity to change someone’s world! Sometimes academically, and sometimes through my love for them!

My little brother was a special education student and he did not always have the best teachers, as a result he has struggled with basic academics his whole life. Fast forward 20 years and my nephew was diagnosed with autism. I knew that my calling was to help and love the students that need it! To teach them basic reading and math skills in a way that they could understand and apply.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceAbout 5 years ago, as a paraprofessional, I met a 1st grader that struggled to read. Blending the sounds just didn’t make sense to him. The next year, he ran up to me and almost knocked me over in his excitement to tell me “I CAN READ!!” Being a part of the team that helped him enter a whole new world was one of the most amazing feelings!! 3 years later I became a certified special education teacher.
What would you do with the $25,000?Pay off vehicles and part of my student loans! Then take my family on a trip. They sacrifice a lot so that I can be the best teacher for my students!
