Tell us why you became a teacher

Transitioning from the medical field to teaching was driven by my passion for shaping young minds and making a lasting impact. While medicine helps individuals heal, education empowers future generations. My desire to inspire, mentor, and foster a love for learning outweighed the technical aspects of healthcare. Teaching offers me the opportunity to connect, guide, and influence students' lives in meaningful ways, turning knowledge into a tool for growth and success.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience happened during my first year as a fifth-grade science teacher. We were studying ecosystems, and I had my students create their own mini biospheres in sealed jars. One student, who rarely engaged in class, became completely fascinated by the tiny world we built. Weeks later, he excitedly shared observations about the decomposition happening inside! Seeing his curiosity ignite and his love for science grow reminded me why I chose to teach—to spark wonder.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I were awarded $25,000, I would invest it in creating a more engaging, hands-on learning environment for my fifth-grade math and science students. I would purchase lab equipment, STEM kits, and interactive technology to bring lessons to life and spark curiosity. I’d also attend professional development workshops to grow as an educator and bring fresh, innovative ideas to my classroom. Finally, I’d use part of the funds to ensure all students have access to the materials they need to succeed.
