Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because of my deep passion for sharing knowledge and fostering a love for lifelong learning. For me, teaching was a calling; a chance to work with children, nurture their potential, inspire growth, and guide them toward achieving their dreams. I also saw it as an opportunity to partner with the community and serve as a positive role model, instilling values like curiosity, compassion, and resilience.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching experiences was teaching kindergarten during the pandemic. I spent an entire year teaching online, which was both challenging and transformative. Initially, I felt anything but confident entering this new, uncharted territory, but I rose to the occasion. I set the bar high for myself and my students succeeded. We laughed, created unbreakable bonds, learned to read, and so much more! It was truly unforgatable and I am a better educator for it!

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I were to win $25,000, I would put the majority of it away into my daughter's college fund. With the remainder, I would do two things. First, I would take a much deserved vacation with my family. Typically, I stay home over breaks due to the cost, so this would be a special treat. Second, I would make a donation to our district's Family Resource center that works to help families in need.
