Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a music teacher to help encourage students like my 3rd grade teacher encouraged me. I’ve always loved music, but I love sharing that with others even more!

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I encouraged a student to join chorus after hearing her sing in the hallway. The following year, I encouraged her to join the musical. Two years later, I helped her apply to college for music. She never knew she wanted to peruse music until I got her involved in the program. She is now in broadcasting! I am honored to have been a part of helping her find her passion.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would like to start a community children’s choir that offers scholarships to children who are economically disadvantaged. This money would go a long way towards securing a space, getting insurance, hiring staff, and purchasing music.
