Tell us why you became a teacher

School never came as easily to me like it appeared it did to so many others. I was constantly comparing myself to my peers while feeling overwhelmed, frustrated and “behind the benchmark”. That was until I had one very special teacher who took the time to understand my academic struggles and lead me to becoming a confident and strong learner. She is one of my inspirations and the many reasons I chose this profession— to not only to help students learn but to boost their confidence.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I truly strive on being a fun, active, engaging and creative teacher throughout the year for my classroom. However, there are moments where I take a step back. I saw myself in a little boy having trouble with math— it was my turn to be his inspiration. Through small groups, individualized attention, understanding and encouragement, this student went from a 0% on a pre-test to an 100 percent on his actual graded exam. It was his first ever “A” in this subject!

What would you do with the $25,000?

Financial stability is first and foremost— I’m not only an educator, but I also hold the very important and invaluable title of being “mom”. I have three amazing boys whom I truly dedicate my life to. Having the blessing of $25,000 would help secure a successful and abundant future so we can all continue to chase our dreams without the heavy burden of financial limitations.
